Through dedication and hard work, Kelvin Gastelum has gone, in his own words, "from last pick to ultimate fighter." From a family that emigrated from Sonora, Mexico, Kelvin is a first generation American from San Jose, California who has made martial arts his way to success.

Fighting was not what his mother had envisioned for him, but since his first amateur fight at 17 he knew there was no way anybody could stop him from doing what he loves. Now he holds the Ultimate Fighting Championship title and his story fills us with Hispanic Orgullo as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
